People don’t really need to know that Simmons plays the air guitar, but some really need to know that the real deal doesn’t just happen once, but there are a lot of other chances for those trying to play this eerie looking wind instrument.
You see, the saxophone isn’t really a saxophone. It’s a melodious instrument that anybody can learn to play. But you need a certain amount of dedication and willingness to play such a fantastically stupid instrument.
That’s not to say that you can’t learn to play the saxophone. anybody who picks up a saxophone can learn to play, but it just takes a little work and fortitude to do it.
The first thing that you need to do is get out of the house. The best thing you can do is to make a sound like you’re outside. Get into the best position you possibly can and learn to control the sounds. Practice constantly, play in different types of weather, and make sure that you understand the types of music that give you the most satisfaction.
These tracks are great but you should also try to get booking. Work with an agent, and perform often. Any self respecting club or brass band will be proud to have you perform for them. It might do wonders for your confidence at times, and you just might be finding a style of music you love.
Enjoy your new venture. A wise man once said “the only thing a musician ever needs is practice”. Whatever you do, just enjoy yourself. Sure, the instrument is beyond the reach of most people, but the experience that comes from loving and playing it is far more rewarding.
Basic Skills Required:
While you don’t have to be an international virtuoso, it helps to have some technical expertise underneath your belt. Never stop practicing. Never let it get boring. You need to learn the basic strumming and basic embouchure control.
One basic mistake that most people make is to think that they can take a beginner saxophone lesson and turn into a professional overnight. That is never going to happen, but there is room in the genre for less experienced players.
Understand that you are exactly the same skill level as someone who is an experienced saxophonist. Make the switch at first because it really doesn’t sound that great to hear a beginner playing intermediate material. Start with the fundamentals and work your way up.

Expect that you will take at least a few lessons before you start playing at a reasonably advanced level. The more advanced material will not come easily, but it will come if you work at it.

How long will I take to play well? That depends on a lot of things. Your mental attitude is important in the occurrence of an instrument. If you want it bad enough, and if you know it’s possible to play a little, you’ll make it happen.
Remember, music is an expression of feelings. Even when you practice you will have a “hard time” at first but you will eventually get better.

What will I need to get started? A little bit of patience, a method book (not an online one), and a saxophone. saxophone reeds aren’t the best thing to use when trying to learn the saxophone. You really need a good reed, one that isn’t too hard to play. Two of the better reeds for a beginner saxophone player are Howard Breedlove Reeds and Rico Hudson. Remember to start with the softer, lower pitched reeds and not the ones that look like they are going to be in pieces. The only thing that will help matters is if you have a good teacher.
